The Cornell Dining Forum
Rate dishes at Cornell dining halls and browse community takes, built to get hands-on with a real deployable stack.

Problem
Cornell dining halls rotate dishes constantly, and beyond word of mouth there was no easy way for students to know whether a given dish was actually worth getting in line for, or to see what other students thought of it.
System design & approach
The app lets students rate dishes at campus dining halls and browse what other students are saying. I used the project to get hands-on with React and Next.js for the frontend, and Firebase Auth and Firestore for sign-in and storing reviews - students sign in, rate a dish, and read what others have said about it.
My role
Solo project - I built the frontend, the auth flow, and the review storage myself, start to finish.
Retrospective
A deployed Next.js app with Firebase Auth for sign-in and Firestore storing and serving reviews, open to Cornell students to rate dishes and read what others think.
Working through that stack helped me connect classroom concepts to a real, deployable web app - my first time taking a project all the way from a course assignment to something live that other students could actually use.
