Yal3ab

Funny Animals Memory and Hangman - an early React project built to play and compete on a shared scoreboard.

System design & approach

It features two games: my custom-designed Funny Animals Memory game and my friend's Hangman game, sharing one scoreboard so anyone could open it, play, and see where they land.

Challenges

This was early enough in learning React that the real challenge wasn't game design, it was React itself - figuring out state and component structure by building something that had to actually work, rather than through a tutorial exercise.

My role

I designed and built the Funny Animals Memory game - the card-flip matching mechanic and the scoring, which rewards a clean match and a fast clear (a flip-count bonus on top of the base score). My friend built the Hangman game; the shared scoreboard ties both together.

Retrospective

My first real React project - learning component state and props by shipping something playable instead of a tutorial exercise, still live today.
